Cross-Country Skiing at Katschberg
The 9 km long hight-altitude Katschberg Trail (5 km classic, 9 km skating) is characterised by challenging climbs and descents. The route ist laid out in an alpine pasture & forest landscape and particularly stands out due to its fantastic panorama. There is an opportunity to stop off for refreshments; not suitable for beginners.
Access point: parking area P3 at Katschberghöhe.

Cross-Country Skiing in Pöllatal
Experience the unique setting of the Pöllatal Nature Reserve on this 6 km long, easy cross-country skiing trail (classic style). Opportunity to stop off for refreshments: Schoberblickhütte in the Pöllatal; closed on Munday and Tuesday.

Cross-Country Skiing in Lungau
The Murtal trail is 31 km long (classic & skating) and not only particularly beautiful, but also particularly easy. The trail always runs along the valley floor. From the access point at Stranach (directly alongside the Katschberg highway, ski bus stop “Stranachwirt”) you can ski 12 km downriver to Neggerndorf or 19 km upriver towards the municipality of Mur (daily fee: € 3,-). There aare several opportunities to stop off for refresments along the route.
NEW! The snowy Petersbründl trail in St. Michael!
The Petersbründl-Loipe in St. Michael is going to be snowed technically for the first time in winter 2017/18. The best conditions for cross country skiing are from December to Easter. Moreover the cross-country ski run is about 1 kilometer long. Guaranteed snow-sure cross-country skiing in the flat area of the Murtal in St. Michael are for beginners as well as for sporty cross-country skiers.
Car park and the entrance are right next to the cross-country ski run. Near the cross-country ski run is a toboggan run for children.
